Job Description
OVERVIEW
Setup, adjust and operate vertical, horizontal, manual and numerical control machines to machine a diversified line of special or standard parts to close tolerance and finish dimensions.
 
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
 
  • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, set up sheets or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece.
  • Sets up machining equipment, changes tools and fixtures, tooling, etc., necessary to make setups. Orders tools as required.
  • Receives instructions from supervisor, blue prints, engineering routines, product drawings and setup sheets.
  • Cuts length, face bevel, bore and turn O.D. and I.D., typically works to tolerances of .005.
  • Checks and records dimension as required.
  • Uses hand tools, vertical, horizontal, CNC lathes, manual turret lathes, engine lathes and drill presses.
  • Checks work with scales, gages, micrometers, verniers, protractors, calipers and other measuring instruments as required.
  • As required, grinds and repairs production cutting tools saws and drills.
  • Makes tool bits, cuts shanks, and grinds clearance.
  • Maintains supply of sharpened tools and saw in designated areas.
  • Receives stores and disburses such materials and supplies as needed for operations.
  • Maintains tool records.
  • Verifies conformance of finished product to specifications.
  • Takes and records data required by SPC procedures.
  • Must be able to check dimensions to tolerances from .005” to .002”.
  • As required, train’s employees to perform setups and to operate various machines.
  • Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.

  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.
 
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
 
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
  • Or one to three months related experience and/or training;
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Immediate medical, dental and vision benefits. There are 401K and HSA contributions provided by the employer. There is a $.75 shift differential for off shift work.
