Surgical Tech PRN

Job Summary:

The Surgical Technician, under the guidance of the registered nurse and supervision of the lead tech, charge RN, Nurse Manager, and Director is responsible for the care of the patients by providing surgical instrumentation/supplies appropriate for the surgical/endoscopy procedure, and the provision of a sterile field for surgery. Included within this assignment is the responsibility for ensuring effective communication between him or herself, the charge nurse, the patient, other staff, physicians, and other hospital departments. The Surgical Technician ensures provision of safe, competent care to all patients/residents.

Requirements:

Completion of Surgical Technician training program or employed as a scrub tech for a min of 1 year

BCLS within 90 days of hire

Communicate and work effectively with people

Certified Endoscopy Tech within 6 months of hire PRN staff are exempt from this requirement

Preferred:

Thorough knowledge of nursing process

Certified Scrub Technician

Certified SPD Technician
