Technical Training Manager - Louisville

Who We are Looking for:

Atkore is currently searching for a Technical Training Manager to be based out of Louisville, Kentucky. This position requires experience in the manufacturing industry. As an ambassador of a learning culture that thrives on training and knowledge sharing, the Technical Training Manager will eventually lead a team in the development and administration of the site-wide frontline worker training and qualification programs in alignment with Atkore's Frontline Worker Qualification Program. The Technical Training Manager is responsible for the creation, implementation, and maintenance of the programs that connect employees with performance expectations; consults with leadership to develop the workforce towards business goals, performance improvements, and change management activities; ensures Technical Training Leads meet job competence, as a coach and mentor; evaluates training initiatives to ascertain programs are bringing value to the business; and maintains a position in the community to build a pipeline of future workers.

What You'll Do:

  • Manages the development process of the frontline worker technical skills bodies of knowledge, in conjunction with subject matter experts, delivered through online, classroom and on-the-job training methodologies.
  • Ensures the audits for Atkore's peer trainer certification that verifies floor training is held to best practices.
  • Manages the qualification assessments, re-qualifications, and cross-training activities. Conducts when needed.
  • Provides training, coaching, and hands-on guidance to frontline worker (new hires and incumbents) during training and qualification periods.
  • Manages the onboarding job training of new hire hourly frontline workers.
  • Works in partnership with frontline leadership and Human Resources to identify employee training/development needs to standardized jobs and capabilities.
  • Drive accountability by serving as a mentor to Technical Training Leaders, Frontline leadership and program stakeholders.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree (or combination education/experience) in a technical training, business, or related field with a minimum of 5+ years proven industry, leadership, and/or related experience.
  • Experience in the manufacturing industry (experience in extrusion would be extremely beneficial).
  • Prior experience in driving training initiatives related to job qualification and/or organization realignment and competency.
  • A passion for change management and experience leading change initiatives both strategically and transactional.
  • Self-starter: able to multitask, managing projects on tight schedules from inception through delivery with little oversight and meet deadlines.
  • Advanced coaching, facilitation, written, and verbal communication skills with experience managing multiple stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Extensive experience with MS Office, MS Teams, and Learning Management Systems.

Within 3 months, you'll:

  • Complete your Atkore immersion program.
  • Understand how your job will help deliver Atkore's strategy.
  • Gain an understanding of your team.
  • Gain an understanding of the training materials and procedures your team owns.

Within 6 months, you'll:

  • Coordinate and/or conduct corporate sponsored training programs for site personnel.
  • Ensure production teammates are trained on individual job functions and training is documented.
  • Partner with Safety and HR to investigate and provide corrective measures for on-the-job accidents, injuries, production issues, and HR issues.
  • Identify production teammates staffing needs, interview candidates, and develop production teammates to ensure effective team needs are met.

Within 12 months, you'll:

  • Develop and conduct initial new associate and refresher programs to ensure all company, customer, and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Develop, coordinate, and/or conduct job-specific and process training programs to ensure production teammates are trained on their job functions.
  • Work closely with Operations Leadership, Manufacturing Supervisors, Maintenance Supervisors, and Engineering to ensure processes are accurate, documented, and changes are made and communicated.
  • Implement changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase manufacturing efficiencies.
