Job Description

Responsibilities

The Manager, Health Information Management collaborates with the Director, Manager, Health Information Management to direct, manage and supervise assigned departmental functions, ensuring completeness, accuracy and integrity of the electronic health record information. This includes, but is not limited to, planning and directing the collection, compilation and distribution of data, recruiting, training and educating staff, monitoring staff performance against established productivity standards and providing input into departmental operating budgets.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Manage daily workflow by effectively designing processes and leading staff to meet turnaround times and project deadlines. This includes, but is not limited to, identifying business needs, updating scripting and implementing process improvements.
  • Apply strong knowledge of technology/software to identify process improvements and optimizations for systems workflows, while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. Measure staff against performance improvement metrics, while also ensuring work completion.
  • Manage departmental performance improvement by trending and analyzing key performance indicators. This includes, but is not limited to, performing gap analysis and root cause analysis to identify areas for performance improvement.
  • Compile and manage budget for area(s) of responsibility.
  • Ensure compliance with organization goals, as well as federal, state and other regulatory agency requirements. Review and update policies and procedures to ensure alignment with hospital, outpatient center, departmental and regulatory agency requirements.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Three years in Health Information Management or Health Information Technology
  • Bachelor Degree
  • One of: RHIA or RHIT

Desired:

  • 2 years of leadership experience.
  • Registered Health Information Technician OR Registered Health Information Administrator OR Certified Medical Transcriptionist
