Norton Healthcare Respiratory Therapy Apprentice program along with our Licensed Student positions is designed to provide a pathway for students to obtain shadowing and additional hands-on experience while earning their degree.

Respiratory Care Practitioner Explorer Program Highlights:

• The Respiratory Care Practitioner Explorer will be employed by Norton Healthcare as a PRN (as needed) employee and partake in a shadowing opportunity that will include, training and learning in areas of respiratory care.
• This experience will allow the explorer to rotate through their selected Norton facilities respiratory departments.

Respiratory Care Practitioner Apprentice Program Highlights:

• The Respiratory Care Practitioner Apprentice will be employed by Norton Healthcare as a PRN (as needed) employee at a set Norton Healthcare Hospital facility.
• Apprentices will gain hands-on experience within their scope of practice in areas such as EKG training, respiratory device cleaning and maintenance, medical gas management, and patient transport assistance.

Licensed Student Respiratory Care Practitioner Positions:

• Students will be employed by Norton Healthcare as PRN (as needed) or part-time employees.
• Students will work semi autonomously within the scope allowed by their Student Respiratory Therapist Licensure issued by the Kentucky Board of Respiratory Care.
• Students will focus primarily on respiratory therapy skills and functions, time management and gaining patient exposure.
• The Licensed Student position and training will continue until students complete their educational program at which time they will be eligible to transition to a full time Respiratory Care Practitioner position within Norton Healthcare.
