Position Summary

The Global Color team supports and drives efforts around the on-going centralization of Color and Proofing across the business. Color & Print Specialists at various levels are needed to bring standardization and centralization for Color and Proofing, and to support the plants in achieving the desired color results at the proofing and press stage.

This position will help support the global transition to the new centralized way of working across all plants and regions. This position will work closely with other members of the Color Team, Plant Leads, and Color and Proofing Leads at the operations level. In addition to initial transition, this position will offer ongoing support and troubleshooting for plant locations, external customers, and printers, as needed.

Responsibilities will include color profile analysis and generation in addition to support for color and proofing system. It may also include the creation and measurement of fingerprint forms and project co-ordination opportunities, for technical projects being managed by the color team.

The position will report into a Color & Print Director or a Regional Color Manager, the employee will also need to work closely with PQM & Color Hub Managers, all members of the Color Team, and the VP, of Global Color & Print.

Essential Responsibilities, Accountabilities & Results

  • Consult with Plants (Operations and Plant Leaders) on Color and Proofing requirements
  • Troubleshoot Proofing and RIP issues for both SGS and Customer locations
  • Troubleshoot Press and Proofing issues
  • Work directly with printers and end user accounts when print results are not as expected
  • Work with the Color Team to implement and drive standardization, centralization, and globalization across the business
  • Generate and maintain profiles as needed that are in line with the Global, standard ways of working
  • Document SOP's for new processes and corrective actions

Educational & Experience Minimum Requirements

This position requires the following knowledge and skills:

  • College level Education in Graphics, Print, or Color Management or applicable experience
  • 6-10 years' experience in color measurement and management
  • The ability to generate and interpret profiles from fingerprint data
  • Extensive experience in prepress including Flexo, and Gravure. Must also have a good understanding of substartes and lamination techniques and how this impacts color
  • Experience in all aspects of Color and Proofing required.
  • A basic understanding of color tolerances and color science is required

Competency Requirements

  • Competent in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Working knowledge of Color Management, Fingerprinting and the Profiling Process
  • Working knowledge of GMG and production proofing
  • Working Knowledge of Color-Logic, Copra, Zepra, and ColorAnt is preferred, but not essential
  • Must have a high attention to detail
  • Self-driven and self-motivated
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Must have the ability to research a problem and come to solutions in a timely manner

Travel Requirements

Travel within North America and Mexico will be 50-70%, the position may require extended periods of time at each location; international travel could be required 2-4 times per year.
