Job Description:

  • The Manager of Palliative Care is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of the Palliative Care Program whose job functions entail assessing, planning, monitoring and evaluating the appropriateness, efficiency, and effectiveness of patient care relative to length of stay, continuum of care, outcomes (including quality and financial), and utilization of resources.

  • The Manager is responsible for staffing, budgeting, continuing reassessment and implementing improvements, as indicated, of the Palliative Care Program.

  • The Manager of Palliative Care is a standing member of the Palliative Care Committee, Cancer Care Committee and Hosparus Committee.

  • The Manger conducts employee performance appraisals and competency testing for the Palliative Care staff.

  • The Manager serves in a supportive role to the Director of Quality/Performance Improvement.

Requirements:

  • RN with a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required, or higher.

  • A minimum of five years clinical experience required.

  • Current KY license required.

  • Palliative Care, Hospice and Case management experience required.

  • Background knowledge about managed care, prospective payment system for Medicare, and third party payers required.

  • Ability to demonstrate excellent management, organizational and interpersonal skills required.

  • Self-motivated, pro-active and creativity required.

  • Detail-oriented, self-directed, be able to prioritize work, demonstrate critical thinking skills and able to work under adverse conditions required.

  • Working knowledge and application experience with evidenced based guidelines.

  • Knowledge of disease processes and therapeutic services applicable to any given diseases or conditions for the neonatal to geriatric age groups required.

  • Good clinical, organizational, customer service and critical thinking skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a health care field preferred.

  • Minimum of two years supervisory experience preferred.

  • Recent experience in specialty preferred.

  • BLS preferred upon hire, required within 90 days of hire.
