Job Description

Responsibilities

Working under minimal supervision, in compliance with regulatory, HIPAA, organizational, and departmental policy and procedure, the Radiology Clinical Coordinator assesses, plans, implements and evaluates a program of education and staff development. Works with clinical resources to coordinate education and serves as a role model and mentor to clinical staff and students. They will demonstrate knowledge, skills and behaviors that support the mission of the school and the Norton Healthcare organization. Maintains current knowledge of hospitals and departments, communication tools and JRCERT accreditation standards. Identifies problems and recommends ideas and solutions. Demonstrates critical thinking.

Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinates, develops and instructs clinical preceptors
  • Plans, supervises and evaluates student's clinical education
  • Directs students to achieve an established standard of care in the radiologic sciences while maintaining the standards of ethics for radiologic technologists
  • Creates and maintains the student clinical orientation, rotation schedule, and lab in-services.
  • Maintains student time sheets, attendance reports and any pertinent student clinical progress reports.
  • Oversees evaluation of student checkouts and competencies.
  • Oversees issuance of clinical lab assignments and evaluation.
  • Creates, assigns, collects and maintains data for school-related student and staff clinical evaluations; providing counseling and guidance as needed.
  • Instructs didactic courses as requested.
  • Provides regulatory support by ensuring compliance with JRCERT (Joint Review Committee for Education in Radiologic Technology) standards.
  • Will be required to participate in job/career fairs and presentations.
  • Will be required to travel to all clinical rotation sites routinely (with mileage reimbursement) to ensure appropriate program oversight.
  • Provides budgetary input to the program director.
  • Serves as the liaison for students, preceptors and clinical sites.
  • Will be based in the Norton King's Daughters' Health School of Radiologic Technology in Madison, IN.
  • Ability to assess problems related to duties and make independent judgments within the framework of established policies and procedures
  • Ability to set priorities and manage workload, accepting and completing assignments in a timely manner and to remember assignments and tasks
  • Ability to handle stress and emergency situations in a calm and professional manner
  • Utilizes excellent customer service standards (as set forth by Norton Healthcare) in communicating with students and coworkers through use of verbal amenities, pleasant facial and body expressions as well as pleasant voice tone
  • Participation in departmental QAPI process and patient experience initiatives as requested

Qualifications

Required:

  • Graduate of a formal educational program acceptable to the ARRT
  • Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography (R)
  • Licensed by the state of Indiana and Kentucky
  • Maintains AHA (American Heart Association) BLS (Basic Life Support)

Desired:

  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in education or radiologic sciences)
    • If the applicant doesn't have a bachelor's degree, they must be in process of degree obtainment.
  • Proficiency in supervision, instruction, and evaluation
  • Three years experience in diagnostic imaging
  • Venipuncture skills
