JOB SUMMARY:

  • Performs invasive phlebotomy procedures on Neonates/infants-birth to 1 year, Pediatrics- age 1 to 12 years, Adolescents- age 12 to 18 years, Adults- age 18 to 65 years, and Geriatrics- age 65 and older while adhering to strict infection control and safety policies as well as all HIPAA Privacy Regulations.

  • Collect blood specimens from other healthcare facilities, stocks and maintain supplies as received.

  • Keeps work area clean and organized, stocks and maintains phlebotomy collection trays.

  • Transpose and order outpatient testing via computer system.

  • Assist with answering telephone and directing in-coming calls.

  • Assist with collections of legal drug screens and other collections procedures as deemed necessary.

  • Process all incoming specimens into lab, prepare specimens for shipment to reference lab with proper preservation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, or higher. One or more years of experience in the phlebotomy field is preferred (on-the-job training will be considered).

  • Must demonstrate outstanding communication skills with patients and other health care personnel, professionalism, and acceptance of responsibility to quality specimen collection that plays a crucial role in the detection, diagnosis, and management of diseases.

  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills required, as are self-motivation and self-direction in the workplace.
